Pedagogy of piano playing

The admission procedure for the Piano Pedagogy programme will not be opened in the academic year 2026/2027.

This is the first professionally focused study programme in the educational field of art. The programme is implemented in contractual cooperation with the Central Arts Council of the Primary Art Schools of the Czech Republic and the subject Teaching Practice is implemented in contractual cooperation with the individual Art Schools of the Czech Republic. Most of the subjects are taught on Saturdays. Within the Central European area, the unrivalled equipment of the workplace with instruments, aids, recording technology and study materials (sheet music and piano schools in printed and digitised form, recordings) provides extensive support for the acquisition of knowledge and for the creative activity of students.

Graduates can enter the following distinctive professions:

  • teacher of piano in ZUŠ, SZUŠ and equivalent institutions,
  • Tutor,
  • teacher of chamber music and improvisation at elementary level,
  • teacher of methodology and pedagogical practice at the conservatory.

Graduates can also find employment in the following relevant professions:

  • teacher of vocational subjects at a conservatory and music college, art or pedagogical college,
  • player of a symphony, chamber or theatre orchestra,
  • member of a chamber ensemble or soloist organising his own recitals,
  • worker in music and cultural institutions.
