The mission of the Department of Music Production is to prepare managers for professional careers in a wide range of musical institutions – orchestras, theatres, art agencies, art schools – and for independent artistic management. The discipline seeks to combine the development of students’ own personal artistic and creative potential with professional training in management, coordination and strategic planning. It also emphasizes the economic aspects of musical processes, the legislative environment (copyright issues), marketing and arts PR.
The Department pursues the following main objectives:
- To develop students’ talents and abilities for independent realization of artistic projects.
- To equip students with the theoretical and practical knowledge for a career as a professional music manager and producer.
- To identify and develop trends in the field, to transfer the knowledge to both students and the professional public (through teaching, experiments, artistic projects and professional conferences), to lead professional reflection and scientific research activities.
- To develop practical skills through active participation of students in cultural projects of the JAMU Faculty of Music and partners directly from practice (e.g. the Brno Philharmonic).
Students and graduates of the department find employment in cultural and artistic organizations of the non-profit sector, in contributory organizations, in commercial entities and in public and state administration. Often they also engage in their own artistic and entrepreneurial activities. These include positions as managers of orchestras, opera companies or art agencies, marketing or PR managers, project managers or art critics. Many students are already in employment during the final phase of their studies.
Information on the admission procedure can be found HERE.
