The study includes courses focused on the stylistic interpretation of individual historical periods, work with musical sources, orientation in contemporary performance principles and other specialized areas. Students are introduced to the historical context of music, the development of musical styles and fundamental issues of musical aesthetics.
The curriculum also includes specialized courses that develop practical skills in historically informed performance, such as ornamentation, improvisation, working with tunings, basso continuo, and performance seminars focused on stylistic analysis and interpretation of repertoire. These courses provide students with a deeper understanding of the performance principles of each period and their practical application in concert practice.
In addition to performance disciplines, the study also includes subjects in music theory, music history and music literature. The curriculum also includes language training and subjects supporting orientation in the contemporary musical and cultural environment. Students are also introduced to the basics of pedagogy, psychology and teaching methodology, which prepare them for their eventual teaching career.
An important part of the studio are also artistic projects, professionally guided chamber music lessons and cooperation with guest teachers from the Czech Republic and abroad. The department regularly organises masterclasses and professional seminars, which enable students to meet prominent figures in the field of historical performance and provide valuable experience in the international music environment.
