What the study offers students
In addition to their own work, students will learn how stage and film composers think. They will discover what terms and processes are used, learn how to work with other composers’ projects, and discover how adaptive music works and how the world of sound design intersects with the world of music. Students will have the opportunity to create music for a play, short film, computer animation or simple computer game. This will give them a hands-on experience of the whole creative process. They will also learn to use modern compositional techniques known from so-called contemporary classical music, which will enable them to stand out from the endless line of genre plagiarists. In the present day, only those who take the world of film and stage music a little further will succeed. In addition to the compositional aspect, students will learn to work with the latest hardware and software used in contemporary professional film music composition. Students will discover how to build entire sound environments, and as part of the exercise, they will then be able to produce music from the idea stage to the final mastering.
What is emphasised
Practical testing of the acquired knowledge – these include the creation and public presentation of compositions for different instrumental ensembles, including electroacoustic music, collaboration on the preparation of films and theatre performances, the creation of multimedia projects and the participation of students in various interdisciplinary projects, etc.
And what else can they learn at JAMU?
