Basic information
The candidate must demonstrate an exceptional level in his/her specialty in the practical examination and meet the prescribed admission requirements. The practical examination determines the professional and, above all, artistic prerequisites for studying the chosen specialisation of the given study programme. The entrance examination takes the form of a solo or chamber performance.
The entrance examination will take place in the form of a solo performance or with piano accompaniment. It includes a general knowledge test, which constitutes 10% of the overall assessment. Piano accompaniment will be provided by each candidate.

Blanosounding instruments
- Jan Zegalski: 40 exercises for small drum (1 exercise of the candidate’s choice) or a composition for small drum of a similar technical level (the assessment of the suitability of the choice of the composition is the responsibility of the talent committee);
- Alexander Lepak: 32 Etudes for Timpani (1 etude of the applicant’s choice) OR Jan Zegalski: 30 etudes for four timpani (1 etude of the applicant’s choice);
- Knowledge of intervals and their tuning on timpani – possibility of random selection by the committee members.
Melodic instruments
- Knowledge of major and minor scales + appropriate chords – possibility of random selection by the committee members;
- Keiko Abe: one solo piece for marimba with four mallets (at the applicant’s choice) OR David Friedman: one solo piece for vibraphone from the Mirror from Another anthology (at the applicant’s choice) OR a solo piece for marimba or vibraphone of a similar technical level (playing with four mallets is compulsory; the assessment of the suitability of the choice of piece is at the discretion of the talent committee).
