Hra na klavír a komorní hra

The specialisation Piano and Chamber Playing responds to the fact that chamber collaboration is the main professional field of most pianists. The aim of the study is to equip graduates with both complex and high-profile skills necessaryfor a wide range of chamber practice.

During your studies you will gradually learn:

  • systematic development of piano technique and performance skills in connection with solo playing
  • the basics and principles of chamber music collaboration in a traditional setting, including working with one or more chamber partners
  • ability to work together in a chamber ensemble for a long time and to build a common interpretation concept

In the third to fifth year, as part of the compulsory elective courses, you will be introduced to various forms of chamber collaboration, including:

  • accompaniment of singers
  • cooperation with string and wind instruments
  • orchestral piano
  • piano concerto accompaniment
  • melodrama and theatre production

Each semester focuses on a different type of chamber practice and culminates in a specific practical performance, usually a public concert.

The preparation of individual projects is carried out under the guidance of specialised practitioners, each of whom has been working on a specific type of chamber cooperation for a long time. Students are thus introduced to:

  • different creative approaches and interpretative concepts
  • the working style and methodology of the leading personalities of each subspecialty

At the same time, they have the opportunity to continuously develop long-term cooperation within a stable chamber ensemble.

At the end of the student’s studies:

  • realizes a solo graduation recital
  • will perform and defend the graduation chamber concert

Thanks to this curriculum you will get:

  • practical orientation in a wide range of chamber piano repertoire
  • the ability to conduct examinations effectively
  • skills needed to create a common interpretation concept
  • basic competences in the field of conducting and organizational leadership of the ensemble
  • experience with managerial aspects of chamber activities

The study allows for the targeted formation of a professional orientation in accordance with the student’s individual performance prerequisites and artistic preferences, which are systematically developed during the course of the study.
