Cello

The main prerequisite is a full university bachelor’s degree, which the student will achieve in the relevant field of study of the string instrument playing programme and the relevant specialisation.

Candidates who have studied undergraduate courses must also demonstrate an exceptional level in their specialisation in the practical examination. This practical examination will determine the applicant’s professional and, above all, artistic aptitude for studying the chosen specialisation of the degree programme.

The entrance examination takes the form of a recital, where the candidate performs on an instrument. Here he/she must demonstrate the high level of his/her performance skills. He/she will be judged by a committee appointed and approved by the Dean of the Faculty of Music of JAMU. This committee will also assess the applicant’s mobility, knowledge and professional level.

1. Two etudes: Piatti, Popper, Grützmacher, etc.
2. J. S. Bach: Suite for solo cello according to the candidate’s choice (complete).
3. A concert from the standard world repertoire.

The entrance examination includes an exam in a foreign non-Slavic language (A or N), the result of which constitutes 10% of the total grade. The foreign language examination is conducted as a written lexical-grammatical test at B 1+ SERR level. The test also tests knowledge of specialist terminology in the field of music.

Piano accompaniment will be provided by each candidate.
