The Master’s degree programme in Wind Instrument Performance with a specialisation in Tuba Performance prepares future professional musicians – soloists, chamber and orchestral players. The study includes a wide repertoire of all styles. The study programme is also open to future teachers who will teach at primary art schools, conservatories, music grammar schools and universities (music academies).

As part of the two-year master’s programme, JAMU students will also meet foreign experts in the field of instrument playing, chamber music, history and literature of the instrument.

• be able to interpret and master a wide range of repertoire of the main subject of his/her specialisation at a high level
• will have an in-depth knowledge of the history and literature of the instrument
• will be able to orient themselves in the aesthetics of art and know the development of artistic movements
• gain practical experience through work on faculty or school-wide projects, which are solo, chamber and orchestral projects often with international participation, or gain further experience through a study abroad
• and ultimately learn how to approach scientific work properly.

• Demonstrates high profile skills on the instrument with an emphasis on solo literature and chamber music
• knows how to interpret demanding compositions of the repertoire of the given discipline and apply modern performance principles (within the framework of the so-called informed interpretation or according to the principles of modern performance techniques of contemporary music)
• can be a flexible member of chamber and orchestral ensembles and has basic practical skills in leading chamber ensembles
• has a professional vocabulary, including a foreign language, and is familiar with musical terminology
• can follow current trends in the given field of study and can integrate them into their professional development
• knows the basic principles of professional text production
• can use technologies related to the specialisation and apply them in practice.

• is aware of the ethical and social dimension of artistic activity and is able to take it into account in his/her work
• adheres to general ethical principles
• knows the basic psychological rules, can work in a team, communicates effectively with team members and has the ability of structured verbal expression
