The entrance examination must demonstrate in particular:
- high quality level of the candidate’s interpretation (the candidate interprets a selection of pieces from the prepared recital/programme in the scope of 60 minutes in front of the commission)
- the bearing of the topic of the dissertation under consideration
- theoretical knowledge (history of music, history of culture, aesthetics, philosophy of art)
- deep insight and orientation in the field of music in the Czech Republic and abroad
- the ability to reflect on the field
- a relevant track record in music
- language skills
The candidate shall submit a written concept of the future dissertation in the scope of 2 – 4 pages (it must contain mainly the topic of the dissertation, research questions and hypotheses, specification of the subject of research, introduction of the intended research methodology, expected outline of the future dissertation, summary of the current state of knowledge of the topic and a review of the literature on the topic).
The entrance examination is conducted in the form of a debate and presentation of the performance and is a board examination. In the debate, the professional and creative prerequisites for the study of the chosen field are determined, especially the ability to theoretically reflect on artistic creation.
The entrance examination includes a language test that proves the language proficiency of the candidate.
