What the study offers students
Their compositions will be regularly included in the concerts, which will help the students to check how well they have succeeded in transforming their compositional ideas into a realistic form. Students will also learn different types of notation from classical notation to proportional notation to alternative forms of notation such as graphic scores. The goal is to be able to notate any type of music. The pieces that will be played in concerts will always be excellently recorded, thus providing a great foundation for their own creative library. They will also encounter a number of interesting concepts such as different extended instrument playing techniques, alternative harmony systems, microtonality and different types of tuning. They will have a real philharmonic orchestra for their graduate composition.
What is emphasised
Practical testing of the acquired knowledge – these include the creation and public presentation of compositions for different instrumental ensembles, including electroacoustic music, collaboration on the preparation of films and theatre performances, the creation of multimedia projects and the participation of students in various interdisciplinary projects, etc.
And what else can they learn at JAMU?
The teaching also includes the basics of marketing, law, economics and psychology. They can also visit foreign partner schools for an experience.
