As part of the international chamber music competition “Franz Schubert and the Music of the Modern Era,” organized by the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Austria), we are announcing a call for applications. This composition competition aims to expand the contemporary repertoire for this six-member chamber ensemble and is a member of WFIMC.
We are looking for new compositions for a mixed ensemble consisting of a piano duo and a string quartet (two pianos or a four-hand piano with two violins, a viola, and a cello).
Important Information
- Composers of all nationalities, as well as stateless persons, are eligible to participate in the competition.
- Age requirement: born in 1986 or later.
- Deadline for submitting applications: March 10, 2027, via muvac.
- Entry fee: 30 €
Price and Benefits
- Financial reward: 5,000 €
- The winning piece will be included as a required piece in the competition repertoire for the piano duo category; all qualifying ensembles will prepare this piece for the final round.
- The performance of the winning composition by all the piano duos that advance to the finals, accompanied by a string quartet from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, will be recorded during the competition.
- The compositions selected by the jury in the initial phase will be added to the library of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz.
